Where can the Rules and the Briefing for the9th ANDREU WORLD International Design Competition and a short and the Briefing be consulted?

What materials should I sent?

1:5 scale prototype, Statement on size A4 paper, [8 ½ inches x 11 inches for projects coming from the USA] maximum 4 pages, CD with plans, sketches and anything else considered by the contestant to be relevant, plus a Sworn Statement of Intellectual Property Conveyance (point 8 of the competition rules, copied in its entirety). All documents must be marked with your contestant number (including the packaging in which it is sent). Add your name only to the packaging and the signed statement, not to the contents of your project, please.

Is it compulsory to send the Sworn Statement of Intellectual Property Conveyance with my name and signature, and my contestant number?

Yes. Failure to do so will result in exclusion from the competition.


What is the closing date for receipt of projects?

14th of September 2009


If my prototype arrives in poor condition or damaged during transportation, will I be disqualified?

No. All projects received, provided they meet the requirements of the briefing, will participate in the competition regardless of the state in which they arrive.

However, Andreu World shall not be responsible for the state or condition of scale models resulting from problems during transportation.

In order to ensure that models arrive in the best possible condition, we recommend that you send your project in impact-resistant packaging with appropriate cushioning against accidents (a box made from reinforced cardboard, for example). In no case should your project be allowed to come into contact with the walls of the box.

We have a design studio. Can we enter the competition?

Yes. There is no objection subject to compliance with the requirements of the briefing and complete the registration on our website www.andreuworld.com, indicating the names of the people who will be signing the sworn statement if involved necessary to be more of a designer and the identification number for the project.

Can I enter more than one project for the competition?

Sure. No problem. The only requirement is that you have to obtain an identification number and attach a sworn statement for each model you present.

Can I register by another method other than the internet?

No. The only way to register is by completing the online form on the website www.andreuworld.com

Should my name appear on the project?

Your name should not appear on the project or on any material presented.

The identification number of your project is the only number that should appear on the prototype and the material being presented.

Your name and personal details should appear only on the sworn statement.

What is the registration procedure for groups?

One member of the group should complete the form with all his/her details, obtaining the identification number required for entry.

In addition, every member of the group will have to provide their personal details on the sworn statement and sign it.

Can I participate if was born prior to 1971?

Yes. Since the 2007 edition the age limit for participation in the competition has been removed.

This competition is aimed at designers and design students. However, anybody with an idea, design or project they think is good is welcome to make a submission.

Will the projects be returned? When?

Yes. The presented works can be taken away by their authors in the Andreu World S.A. building from October 13th 2009 until December18th 2009. The contestants must notify it with 24 hours in advance to Andreu World so they can be prepared the works for its transportation. Once this period of time has past and the works have not been taken away, it will be understood that the contestant renounces to recover them and Andreu World can proceed with them however they find appropiate.

Can I simply present a CD with 3D designs and renders of my project?
No. A 1:5 scale prototype must be presented.

A CD with 3D models and renders may be presented together with the project’s technical report.
How should projects be sent?

By the most appropriate and the safest means of transportation possible, or delivered in person to our facilities.

Each entrant must pay the costs of postage and packaging when sending their project to our facilities. No unpaid freight will be accepted.

What are the prizes?

-1st prize: 4,000 Euros
-2nd prize: 2,000 Euros

This year, a total of up to 3 Special Mentions will be given, with no financial award, by a panel comprised entirely of professionals in the field of design.
